Tie it step by step

   Check ice thickness continuously and carry picks, rope and a floating suit.

   Load fresh 0.10–0.16 mm line; old line coils badly in the cold.

   Tie the jig with a Palomar or clinch, wetting with water, not saliva, in freezing air.

   Set a soft nod on the spring tip and test the drop in the hole.

   Keep holes marked, hands dry and spare gloves inside your jacket.
