   Wet the mat and your hands before the fish touches anything.

   Lay the fish flat with the snout against the zero stop.

   Pinch the tail closed and read total length at the tail tip.

   Photograph the whole fish and the tape in one frame.

   Return the fish to the water within a minute where you can.
